Cake walk - a Poem by Mini Chacko

THE CAKE-WALK -- Mini Chacko

I stood admiring my own creation,
as I finished laying out Breakfast - on our Anniversary day.

Wow, does'nt the cake look tempting?
Yes! it sure does he said - like our life of nineteen years.

We hold a knife together and cut deep into it,
Then he takes a piece out of it - and holds it out for me.

Wow, it tastes great too,
Yes! he added on - like the memories of those past years.

My children ask me,
Mom! would you share the recipe - of this delicious cake with us?

Of course dears! I tell them,
as they wait eagerly - with a paper and pen in hand.

First and foremost, take two large eggs - they sure are our bloated ego's,
and break them into a dish.

Now, add a large helping of love - like the sweetness of sugar,
which definitely can vary to your taste.

Then a small amount of butter - like those blatant white lies,
that we say in appreciation of each other.

Now, go further on and add - an even mix of cocoa flour and soda,
just like the perfect mix of jealousy, extended bonds and anger.

Then spice it up with a little fun - I mean the vanilla essence,
to impart flavour and fragrance.

Now mix all of it into a batter - that's our life,
and pour it out into a greased bowl
Yes,of course! that's the loving home we have built together.

Then bake the cake in an oven of trials and tribulations,
to come out of it tempered and matured.

Finally, garnish it with icing, fruits and nuts - Yes, I mean little ones like you,
to carry on a legacy as sweet and tasty as this cake.
