Around the corner, my friend

Around the corner I have a friend
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
Before you know, a year is gone

I still recollect my friend's face,
Though life has become a swift, terrible race.
He may know that, I am as friendly now as well,
As in the old days, when our separation was just a door bell.

We were young when, playful times we spent.
Got better on studies, logic and tech's advent.
Industry used some, while others brew,
Using one another, oldrer and wiser we grew.
Some would criticize some one else's decisions,
Some would talk big about other's accomplishments..
We were just cool and would stay put...
Some how we knew our strengths and would get better at them..

Opportunities came, I was the first to leave..
You were no exception, later you left as well..
We then got engaged and later tied knots, sure to find happiness..
First In love later chaos as tides and ebbs came in and out..
We slowly started enjoying our busy schedules..

Tomorrow, may be, will call on my friend,
To share my sorrows, joys, pictures I would send..
Picassa and flicker have all the tools needed,

Now cell phones come with cameras and video recorder,
Most of these innovation suits us to boast off, of what we own,

One day we may graduate beyond..
Still at times, we manage to do our updates...

Tomorrow the day after, weeks go passing bye..
Month after months, new year's around, also babies arrive..
We have updates.. doing blogs and home pages..
Only that we are far away from home and have not talked for ages..

Around the corner! - yet miles and decades past,

A message appears on the voice mail a few days last,
Funeral home service calls to say "your friend passed away."
On calender it showed, that it was already a day past!!

Around the corner, yet another Friend....
